How to Build the Little Library

Posted by Jared Waters on

Build your own charming miniature neighborhood library with this easy DIY kit. This beginner-friendly project is perfect for dollhouses, dioramas, model railroads, and book nooks.

Materials Needed:

-Our 1:12 Scale Little Library Kit

-Glue (included)

-Hammer (1 nail)

-Acrylic paints (optional)

Step 1 – Organize the Pieces

Lay out every piece before beginning. Dry-fit the pieces so you understand how they interlock before applying glue.

Step 2 – Build the Library

Nail the bottom piece to the post through the hole in the bottom using the guide to keep it centered. Assemble the side walls, bottom, shelf, and back panel. Glue the small square support piece to the center of the bottom panel to hold the post in place. Complete the build by attaching the front frame and the two roof pieces.

Step 3 – Test Fit

Before painting, make sure everything is square and fits snugly.

Step 4 – Paint

Paint the body, roof, and base separately for the cleanest finish. Allow all pieces to dry completely before assembly. Once assembled, arrange the included miniature books to create a realistic Little Free Library display.

Your miniature library is ready for display in a diorama, dollhouse, or miniature streetscape!

Make It Your Own
