Make your own DIY 2x4 Snowflake to add to your Holiday decorations or to your Christmas tree! Also, a great DIY gift idea!
Here are the supplies you will need:
- 1 dozen - Mini Material miniature lumber - 2x4s
- Miter box
- Sand paper
- Some kind of saw
- Krazy glue
- Some type of measuring tool
(This DIY tutorial can make 2 DIY 2x4 Snowflakes.)
Step 1:
Mark (2) pieces of the 2x4s at 12cm, and(2) at 11cm. Use (2) more of the 2x4s and mark them at 3cm, (8) times. (Hint: you will have up to (6) pieces on one of the 2x4s and (2) pieces on the other.)
Step 2:
Cut down each of the first (6) pieces of lumber to the marked areas.
Step 3:
On both of the pieces that you marked at 11cm, you will make a mark at the center point (5.5cm). Cut at that point. You should now have (2) 12cm pieces, (4) 5.5cm pieces, and (8) 3cm pieces.
Step 4:
Take all of the (8) 3cm pieces and mark at 1.5cm. Place on the miter box, so that the marking lines of with the very center line. Cut at an angle on each. You will now have (16) angled pieces.
Step 5:
Now go back to your (2) 12cm pieces and (4) 5.5cm pieces, and mark on both of the 12cm pieces, as shown in the far left photo above. (Hint: It will be a marking at 5.5cm and another at 6.5cm.) In order for the krazy glue to hold well, use your sand paper to sand one edge of each of the 5.5cm pieces and the area where you marked the 12cm pieces. Now you can glue two of the 5.5cm pieces to the first of the 12cm 2x4s, which will create an "X." Do the same with the second 12cm 2x4 and attach on top of the first.
Step 6:
Now you can begin placing the (16) angled pieces to the edges of each of the "X's," as shown above.
Step 7:
Now you are all ready to paint your snowflake whatever color of your liking! Enjoy!
