What’s the best tool to cut mini lumber?
Our round up helps you decide.
Craft Knife/Xacto/Box Cutter
These versatile tools have as many names and uses, but their thin blades make them best suited for thin materials.
Miter Shears
These plier-like tools with adjustable angles are great in a pinch, and excel at making a lot of different cuts quickly! The downside is that they struggle with thicker materials, and the cut edges can become a little pinched.
Razor Saw
These all-around saws have less bend than craft or hack saws, but their size limits them to straight cuts. Nevertheless, they make a great workhorse cutting tool!
Coping Saw
This blade makes the curve. With patience you can do detailed scroll work - no electricity required!
Mini Hack Saw
We love a good hack saw. It cuts through a variety of material, and while not always the best tool it always gets the job done.
Mini Table Saw
These little machines can be had for less $100, and they do a great job of making small cuts quickly. But beware! They may look cute, but they can cut fingers as easily as lumber.
